Project Blush + Blue Office
I feel like this reveal has been a long time coming! I moved into my house in 2017 and felt immediately overwhelmed by everything that needed to be done. When you move from a one bedroom apartment to a house double in size, you just don’t think about all things that you will need above and beyond the essentials. And there were ALOT. I needed everything from a washer/dryer, refrigerator to a dining room table, so needless to say the decor in the “extra” room had to wait. So here we are 2 1/2 years post closing, and I finally have completed my office! And I am EXCITED.
So why blush and navy blue? I love navy blue. It’s one of my favorite colors. I also love blush because it feels a lot lighter than true pink and in my mind the combination of the two equals perfection. It’s light and girly, and mixed with whites, grays and golds as accent colors, it is the perfect match for my house. I have this thing about all the rooms in my house flowing. Every room doesn’t need to be the same color scheme by any means, but it should flow. I don’t like to walk into one room and it feel like it should be in a completely different house. This room flows, my friends. It belongs in the house + now it just might be my favorite room.
The BIG Reveal. Here it is…Project Blush + Blue Office.
I'm so happy about how it turned out! If you saw the Pinterest board that I created for this office you would see that the board literally came to life!
I actually started this room with just one piece - the chandelier. I knew that I want this lighting fixture in this room, so in some ways it served as my anchor piece.
Not too long after, I found the accent chair at Home Goods along with many other smaller accents for the desk. I began building the room slowly grabbing items over time as I found things that would fit. On another Home Goods run, I came across this rug and knew that this was the right rug for the space. This is actually the second rug I purchased for this room, and while I loved the first one the gray stripes weren’t quite as dark as I wanted them to be, and the pile was just a little to high.
After much back + forth, I opted for a mini desk for this room. I snagged this desk on sale at West Elm. I love the bronze gold accents and the display shelf on the desk. It’s perfect for storing your office supplies and keeps it from cluttering up the top of your desk.
If you follow along on Instagram, you know Home Goods was also the place that I found both pieces of artwork for this room. Finding the right art is critical (it can make or break your space), so I was overjoyed when I found both of these pieces. The navy blue, blush + gold piece over my desk made me go a little over budget - but it was totally worth it in the end!
The final piece was adding some organization elements + a window treatment to the room. I added in a clothes rack because I need as many places a possible to keep clothes (haha!) + a bookshelf. The fun thing about the bookshelf is that it didn’t come with legs. It’s actually supposed to sit directly on the floor, but I didn’t want that. So, I ordered a set of gold furniture legs from Amazon and used a power drill to drill a few holes in the bottom of the bookshelf, screwed the legs on + viola!
I DIYed my widow's curtain, as well. The cornice window treatment was made for less than $30, but it is the perfect, simple window treatment this room needs. I opted to do it in a light gray because I wanted it to blend with the wall color (Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray) and not stand out or be too noticeable.
I finished off this room with cactus accents! I love throwing in a touch of the unexpected. A cactus in a super girly modern room? Why not! I was able to find this faux cactus plant at Target + cactus accessories at Michael's + Hobby Lobby.
This room was a joy to do. I really had fun creating a space that represented me + my personality + that will be the perfect place to hang out + get work done.
